If they have the opportunity, our dog love to observe, they can spend time looking through a window at birds or the neighbor’s cat who crosses the garden, or at people on the sidewalk, at cars, … During this activity, it might seem to us as if our dog is “doing nothing”, but their brain is at work.  Indeed, the sensory channels (sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch) feed the brain with information of all kinds, there is certainly no physical activity, but the neurons are working at full speed.

“Doing nothing” is an activity that we can offer our dogs when out on  our walks, by stopping at a terrace or in a garden, or by sitting on a bench, … and then watching the world go by, taking in the sensory information of the environment, …
